If you submitted documents this year (in 2020) to extend your residence permit either electronically or in paper form, you will need to come to Latvia and personally collect your cards.
This is very problematic, as there is no air traffic, there are no convenient ways to reach Latvia, and the borders of many countries remain closed.
However, you can submit an application requesting the Department to extend the deadline for issuing cards until March 31, 2021.
The application is prepared in paper form and sent directly to the department by courier mail, or to the Embassy of Latvia by registered mail or courier.
The Department will then review the application and send you a decision extending the deadline until March 31, 2021.
There is still plenty of time until March 31, and you will be able to decide what to do next based on the situation in the coming year.
