As you know, a residence permit must be obtained within three months from the moment the Department makes a positive decision.

For example, we have clients from China. No one knows when they will be allowed to travel to Latvia.
Recently, the Department of Citizenship and Migration published information on an internal forum stating that each such case will be evaluated based on the situation in the country whose citizen is planning to arrive in Latvia.
In the example with China, if entry is permitted in 5 months, the residence permit card can be issued later, in 5 months.
Clients who have received a positive residence permit registration decision can wait calmly until arrival in Latvia is permitted.
