Unfortunately, an emergency situation was declared in Latvia last week due to the virus.
Over the weekend, the government decided to close entry for foreigners from March 17 to April 14.
This affects 8 of our clients - residence permit holders who were supposed to arrive in Latvia during this month to submit documents. Therefore, our lawyer was in contact with them throughout the weekend and monitored the news.
In this situation, three clients will be able to submit documents electronically through the State Services website. One client managed to arrive and submit documents on Monday. Three clients will arrive later in May. One more client is in Latvia and will submit documents in a week.
In addition to residence permits, the emergency situation affects some tenants.
Several apartments of our clients are rented by "operators" who work with foreigners:
they provide housing through the BOOKING and AIRBNB platforms.
Clearly, the activities of these operators will be suspended for some time.
Therefore, we promptly contacted our clients, discussed possible benefits for tenants, and offered favorable rental terms for a month.
