We present to your attention a summary regarding residence permits in Latvia.
Regarding the submission of documents (annual registration / renewal) of residence permits. Please note that electronic submission is currently not possible (for technical reasons). Documents can be submitted electronically to the department only if you have an electronic signature.
In this case, you can sign the application, sign a scanned copy of your passport, and send it to the department by email. Each adult signs their own documents.
The second option is to send documents to the department by courier mail in paper form.
The third option (if you are in Latvia) is to prepare documents in paper form and send them to the department by mail (or courier).
Regarding renewal of residence permits (for the next five years). The department is asking more and more questions and requesting additional information.
They ask about the purposes of obtaining a residence permit in Latvia, ask detailed questions about work or business activities, and request information about adult children.
For everyone who needs to renew their residence permit for the next five years, we recommend starting the process six months in advance.
Regarding initial residence permits for Israeli citizens. Recently, our company's lawyer obtained a residence permit for an Israeli citizen under the pension residence permit program.

If you have Israeli citizenship, you receive a pension in Israel (amount 784 euros per month), and have reached the retirement age established in Latvia, then you can obtain a residence permit. This does not even require purchasing real estate.
