We are sharing the latest news. If you have a Latvian residence permit but have not visited Latvia since the start of the pandemic (neither in 2020 nor in 2021), you must obtain your residence permit cards by March 31, 2022.
This means you will need to arrive, complete the isolation period (if you do not have a European certificate), and then visit the department.
The standard isolation period is 10 calendar days. However, on the seventh day you can take a PCR test, and then you will be able to visit public places starting from the eighth day.
We recommend planning your trip in advance so that you can collect your ready cards by March 31.
If this is not possible, at least have your photo taken before that date.
If even this is not feasible, you can write a letter to the department explaining your individual circumstances (which must be substantial) regarding why you cannot travel.
It is clear that the pandemic continues to hinder normal travel, but the borders are open and it is possible to visit Latvia.
