Residence permit in Latvia - no changes until the end of 2022!

A KOM-INVEST lawyer participated in a seminar with representatives of the Department of Citizenship and Migration on January 13, 2022.

According to internal information, the adoption and implementation of the new Immigration Law may take 6-7 months. This is because the new law entails amendments to other laws, as well as the adoption of approximately 30 Cabinet of Ministers regulations (rules).

It is clear that this is a labor-intensive and substantial process.

Therefore, if you are interested in obtaining a residence permit in Latvia, you still have time to do so! We remind you that the following rules currently apply :

- EUR 250,000, one property (except in regions where you can purchase two properties)

- Cadastral value EUR 80,000 (or appraisal for EUR 250,000)

- Property seller is a Latvian citizen, EU citizen, Latvian legal entity, or a holder of a valid residence permit

- Payment to the Latvia budget: 5% of the purchase price
