As a rule, unusual and striking architectural projects are associated with Dubai, New York, Moscow, or other major cities.
However, on October 8th, something was realized here in Riga that inspires admiration even on a global scale.
In the quiet center, in the "HOFT" project (Building of Flying Trees), trees were placed on the facade using a helicopter!
According to the architects' design, 38 trees should be installed in special containers on the facade ledges.
36 trees were managed to be lifted by a construction crane, and the remaining 2 trees were lifted by helicopter.
As the developer explains, "the trees were selected for their low growth potential, and are historically adapted to grow in small volumes of soil, moisture and low temperatures.
These are species such as mountain pine and dwarf black pine. Trees are prepared over 10-15 years to grow in containers with a volume of 1 m³. For this, they are transplanted 6-7 times, with their root systems and crowns being trimmed and shaped according to 'bonsai' principles.
The nursery where the trees were purchased is located in northern Germany, where weather conditions are similar to Latvia's. The trees were brought to Latvia in advance and underwent acclimatization during the past winter."
In our opinion, such interesting events receive wide publicity and thereby attract attention to the Latvian real estate market.
Investors and buyers from other countries will become interested in this project, will seek information about it, and will decide to invest in this object or in other properties.
Information about the project can be viewed here.
